Bespoke kitchen unit
Following a kitchen re-design, this kitchen wall had been chosen as a
breakfast area by this retired couple. On the left was a waste-
pipe conduit for the upstairs loo, and on the right was an old bedroom
cabinet salvaged from the re-design of one of the bedrooms, planned for
use as a china cabinet.
The clients wanted a cost-effective solution that would make these
elements blend together and include ornamental shelving and space for
the stereo and music.
We mounted and fixed the right-hand cabinet on a skirted plinth, boxed
in the pipes the left with a vertical shelving unit, and bridged the
gap with box-shelves. The entire was then decorated to match the
existing woodwork colour-scheme.
One of the interesting aspects of this job was that the entire left
hand side had to be easily removable should a plumber need access to
the pipes. The pipe conduit can be accessed by the removal of 8
standard screws.
